Two years ago, our little gang of aliens from very different backgrounds flew to New Mexico to tell one story that we all believed in. While we were shooting the "Roswell, New Mexico" pilot, we all started carrying around little green alien figurines in our pockets, and we have hung onto them all this time. Sometimes, when I'm anxious, I find myself reaching into my pocket for mine, finding reassurance in the reminder of what we've already accomplished together, how far we've come. We even give them to new crew members and guest stars as our family gets bigger, and better, and weirder every day. We wanted to share that feeling with our fans because you're a part of the family too -- so now, you too can keep a little alien in your pocket, as a reminder that you're never alone.
100% of proceeds from sales of these shirts go to A Little Alien, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit set up to help ease financial hardship inflicted on our crew by the COVID-19 crisis. Now, with COVID-19 ravaging the film and television industry, some members of our RNM family need a little more than reassurance that things are going to be okay. It takes hundreds of people to put together a TV show, and many of those people are living paycheck-to-paycheck. The crew is the beating heart of a show -- they work incredibly hard for very little recognition, but just like the cast and the writers, they are artists, whose contributions are essential to the stories we're telling. Those artists we love so much are now out of work for an indefinite period of time, and we want to do whatever we can to ease their struggle.
Grants will be available to RNM crew members who need help with anything from groceries to medical bills. Once we do go back into production, remaining funds will be available to people who can't return to work for health reasons and/or donated to organizations that support RNM's inclusive message.
Thank you for helping us keep the people we love, who tell the stories that you love, safe.
Love,
Carina MacKenzie
